Our Work: Limetree Road, Plymouth

Extensive renovation of a mid-terrace Victorian property in Plymouth for a private client. Having endured a number of cold winters, our client wanted to make the property as warm, comfortable and energy efficient as possible. We therefore insulated the entire property, internally on the walls and below the existing ground floor, the house was also entirely re-plastered, re-wired and re-plumbed with a new A-rated boiler fitted. A strong element of the brief was to retain as much of the existing character as possible, including original fireplaces, the staircase, and the original floor boards which were sanded, and varnished. The ‘modern’ element to the property involved the renovation and conversion of an old 1960’s extension (former bathroom) into a home office. We worked closely with the site carpenter to design details, and utilising birch faced plywood with exposed grain to internally line the walls, and create a large sliding door so that the space can be separated for privacy. Having removed the only bathroom in the house, we created two addition bathrooms upstairs as ensuites to each of the bedrooms. Our Client has since told us that their energy bills have dropped to approximately a third of what they were, and they no longer have to wear two jumpers in the winter!
